Anderson Silva has reportedly filed a complaint against a woman who bashed him on Twitter. The woman, who was yet to be identified, has called Silva names on the popular social media Web site, inciting the former UFC middleweight champion to file legal charges.

If the woman is found guilty, she could face fines or jail time up to 6 months in Brazil. According to Brazilian Police Officer Marcelo Magalhaes, Silva has filed defamation against the woman after she called him a rotten sh*tty idol, Globo Esporte reported. The lawsuit was carried out by Silva's lawyer who acted on his behalf.

"We are still in the research process to find the correct name, address, or phone reported," Magalhaes said.

"It is a 40-year-old woman who wrote on the internet a number of phrases including 'Brazil will see the idol and you are rotten," he added.

The lawsuit is still in the early stage. The woman has to be found first so that the case will push through. Once the woman has been identified, the next step will be court hearings for both parties. It looks like Silva's next fight will be in court then.

Silva is currently recovering from the injury he suffered during his fight against Chris Weidman in December at UFC 168. Is Silva being sensitive for a couple of offensive comments? We wonder if he is really going to sue someone over something as little as this.

For a public figure like Silva, people will really have something to say, even ruthless comments thrown at him without reckoning.

Do you think he should just take the comments like a man? There's really nothing more to this case. It may seem like a very negligible infraction to goad Silva and have him file legal charges against the woman.

But in Brazilian law, it may be enough to be called a crime.
