The main event of UFC 168 between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman had an ending that nobody ever expected. Silva ended up losing by TKO to Weidman, after breaking the tibia in his left leg. Two weeks after that historic fight and for the first time, Silva broke his silence and exclusively spoke to Globo.com. The Brazilian mixed martial artist retells the story of the most horrifying moment of his fighting career.

"When I kicked, it made a rumbling noise actually breaking the bone, and the pain is something so absurd," said Silva. Following the injury, Silva underwent operation to treat the fracture sustained on his left leg. He revealed that he is currently improving and getting better. It is getting progressively easier for Silva to walk.

"I'm not going 100% but I'm giving some little steps with the crutch," he said.

The former UFC Middleweight Champion said that his leg still hurts a lot. "It's a pain that I do not wish for anyone," said Silva. It has not been easy for Silva to brush off the sleepless nights that the injury has brought about. "I cannot sleep through the night," he said. "It is very difficult," he added.

This trial in his career even made Silva tempted to question God. "The whole point I'm trying to understand why," he said. "Why I had to break my leg, why I had to be going through this situation," he continued. "I'm trying to understand the message that God is trying to give me at that moment," said Silva.

Nonetheless, Silva is thankful that he gets tremendous support from his family and his fans all over the world. The overwhelming support makes his journey to physical recovery a lot bearable.

At the moment, Silva is focused on his rehabilitation and recovery. He currently has no intention of fighting Weidman again. However, he said that he would like to keep on doing what he loves to do.

"I want to be able to do what I do well," said Silva. "Regardless of whether or not the belt, regardless of being the champion or not, I wish I could go back to doing what I do well, that is to fight," he said.

Silva also made it clear that he has no plans of retiring right now. "It's when you do feel that this need to stop," he said. "Your body tells you, your mind tells you 'now is the time to stop,' he added. "I think I still have much to do in the fight and I have no intention of stopping this," said Silva.

Silva is startlingly cheerful on the subject of his comeback in the octagon ring, but only the doctors can really tell if he will be able to fight again.
