Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy S3 Scheduled on Q4?
Recent reports are stating that Samsung Galaxy S3 will soon be receiving the latest Android update (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean) by the fourth quarter of this year. The latest RAM upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S3 would supposedly help the smartphone when receiving the update.
As it turns out, the reports are actually true as Samsung confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The latest Android update will be scheduled to roll out by the fourth quarter of this year. Both the Australian version and other International version will receive the "Update via KIES" during that period. The Korean-based manufacturer has already announced a RAM upgrade (from 1GB of RAM to 2GB) in order to make the phone "future-proof" for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
As for Samsung Galaxy S2 users, this Samsung Galaxy phone would not be receiving the Android Jelly Bean update due to hardware limitations. Specific reasons include a lower screen resolution (800 x 480), dual-core processor, and the update would not work smoothly with the TocuhWiz. The basic requirements for the Android Jelly Bean update is a 1280 x 720p screen resolution and a Quad-core processor.
The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was first unveiled at the recently concluded Google I/O conference last week in San Francisco. Despite just being an update, it will bring about new features such as improved user interface (search bar, background image, and clock feature), Siri-type of feature, and a possibility for dual boot of Windows and Android OS.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the latest smartphone from Samsung. It is a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU with 2GB of internal RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S3 also has an 8MP rear-facing camera, 2,100mAh removable battery, and 16GB/32GB internal storage with option for microSD.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is offered in 28 countries including Australia. Interested customers of Samsung Galaxy S3 could purchase the unit (without the 2-year lock down period) for AU$899.
