Devices Running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS

Google already released the source code of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and has been seen running to some flagship devices of the Google Play variant. It is speculated that Android 4.3 will be launched publicly by July or August 2013 before Android 5.0 launching in October 2013.

  • Samsung Galaxy S4: Its Google Play Edition is the very first to receive Android 4.3 firmware and currently being tested to the Snapdragon-powered variant. Samsung is going to integrate their TouchWiz before releasing the update soon.
  • HTC One: Current flagship smartphone of HTC has been sighted from Bluetooth SIG and received approval on Bluetooth certification which indicated Android 4.3 OS running the handset.
  • Sony Xperia Z: XDA developer Taylor_Swift ported Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware to the Sony Xperia Z with a size of 300MB and available for download.
  • Nexus 7 2 K009: Traffic logs of the ASUS K009 flooded details of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running on the said device. A support representative from the company leaked the same information as well.
  • Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10: These four members of the Nexus line have been spotted via server logs which underwent Android 4.3 testing and all of them are going to receive the update soon.
  • ASUS Memo Pad Smart: First non-Nexus model rumoured to run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean according to GottabeMobile.
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Although unconfirmed, Galaxy Note 3 may run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead of Android 4.2.2 since Samsung already received the source code from Google to run Galaxy S4 Snapdragon-variant.

Android 4.3 Rumoured Features

Android 4.3 isn't a major shape-changer of the Android ecosystem but it will include some changes and major bug fixes for Android 4.2.2. The new update is small to make a significant OS overhaul and speculated to contain new features among eligible devices.

  • Bluetooth LE: Bluetooth Low Energy is going to be incorporated on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which uses the same range and transfer rate without eating too much battery unlike with earlier versions.
  • Always Scanning Wi-Fi: This feature will improve location accuracy and Wi-Fi connection search plus other purposes which isn't yet confirmed for what function it pertains to.
  • Font Changes: Roboto font has been tweaked for devices Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for font lovers.
  • Camera App changes: Shutter control is now toggled using the volume rocker without the need of using a separate camera shutter button and a new "settings" button found inside the camera app.
  • Notifications: Third party applications are now detailed in the Notifications bar just like default apps, SMS and email.
