Xperia Tablet Z owners will be happy to know that Sony has already released the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade for the WiFI version, after rolling out the same update to the Xperia LTE version not long ago.

The update is now live for the SGP312 and SGP311 WiFi models and will upgrade your firmware to version 10.4.B.0.577. Added to Android 4.3 features are the Sony Smart Social camera, a new home launcher, support for multiple small app launcher, Xperia theme support and a new batt Stamina mode.

A bit of bad news is that the update is only available through the Sony Update Service or PC companion and an OTA (over-the-air) download cannot be expected because the update measures a big 793 MB.

Meanwhile, the much awaited HTC EVO 4G LTE Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has been detailed by HTC but owners who have been stuck waiting eagerly for the software will probably not be pleased. Early in 2013, HTC stated that one of its top devices for 2012, the HTC One EVO 4G LTE, will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and the new Sense 5 user interface that was released with the HTC One in April. HTC said it would roll out the update before 2013 ends.

In November, HTC said that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will undergo testing in January 2014, which means the release date will be delayed. The company didn't state exactly when the update will roll out.

HTC President Jason Mackenzie has recently relayed the release date details for HTC EVO 4G LTE owners still waiting for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. According to Mackenzie, the upgrade will push out in mid-February of 2014. This is if everything goes out according to the plan. HTC appears to have run into issues that have caused delay. Mackenzie didn't specify an exact date though, which means that HTC EVO 4G LTE owners are still going to be in the dark.

With the HTC EVO 4G LTE's second birthday after its release in the previous summer, Sense 5 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean may represent the last major update for Sprint's ex-flagship. HTC is known to stick to an 18 month support window for all its devices, even the flagship ones, and the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be fortunate if it receives the Android 4.4 KitKat, Google's latest update.
