Announcement of the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update during the May 2013 Google I/O conference did not happen, much to the disappointment of the attendees, but an imminent release is still expected. According to Sundar Pichai, the new Android head, Search Engine giant Google will release the new Android software on Q4 2013.

When Sundar Pichai discussed the Google I/O event, he noted that it is different from the previous one since there were no announcements on new and upcoming devices. However, several handsets are reported to be acquiring the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie when the new operating system (OS) makes its official appearance.

The lineup of devices for the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie include the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy 10.1, Google Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.

Upcoming devices are contending as well to be the first in getting the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update. These devices are the Motorola X Phone, Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Other reports are claiming that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be announced either this coming month of June or July coinciding with the Motorola X Phone's scheduled release during the summer season. At the 2013 IFA Expo from September 6 to September 11, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly make its appearance but the device's release date with the new Android update has not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Nexus 5 smart phone will most likely be revealed in November after the success of the Google Nexus 4. The devices predicted to receive the new OS first are the Nexus 4 smart phone and the Motorola X.
