The fans of Scottish professional tennis player Andy Murray, who currently ranks World No 4 and British No 1, were arrested on Wednesday after being mistaken as gunmen.

Here is the story.

The incident took place in north London. Murray was with his agent inside a car. He was being driven after a book signing at Waterstones Piccadilly to record an interview for the Jonathan Ross show. Suddenly, a group of men approached Murray's vehicle. One of the men identified as Ifran Ahmed carrying a tennis racquet loomed and moved toward Murray's car. It appears that Ahmed only wanted to obtain the autograph of the tennis superstar and have him sign the racquet.

Ahmed is actually an autograph hunter. He used to have an account with eBay where he used to sell memorabilias of celebrities.

A civilian who witness the incident, apparently, contacted the authorities. A spokesperson of the Scotland Yard stated that they received a call at 5:00 pm on Wednesday reporting a man carrying a gun has approached a Mercedes vehicle in Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage.

Murray's vehicle was stopped in Tadema Road in Chelsea. Four men were arrested and taken to custody on suspicion of carrying guns. The police officers searched and found nothing. Later on, the arrested individuals were released on bail, pending additional inquisitions.

Murray won his first-ever Wimbledon title after beating Serbian Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final. It was Britain's first win in 77 long years. However, he missed the latter part of the 2013 tennis season after having gone through a back surgery in September. He currently trains and is stepping up his recovery. Depending on the recuperation of his injury, Murray is expected to start off the next season at the Brisbane International tournament where he had already won a couple of times.
