Racheal Weisz out, enters Hollywood's newest prima donna Natalie Portman, as the possible replacement of Angelina Jolie in the much-hyped 3D film "Gravity."

Previous reports say actress Rachel Weisz will step in as Angelina Jolie's replacement in the film as Mrs. Brad Pitt had apparently decided to pass on the project. Reportedly, producers expressed interest in meeting Weisz for the role.

But now, an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter say that Black Swan actress Natalie Portman is in talks with the Warner Brothers to play the lead character in the much hyped film. Portman's performance in the Darren Arronofsky film generated buzz both in Venice and Hollywood, with some critics predicting a sweep of awards to come her way.

Jay A. Fenandez of The Hollywood Reporter writes: "In the wake of "Swan" notices, Cuaron finally got the green light from the studio to relay the offer to Portman without requiring a screen test."

Portman is expected to read the script this week and make her decision shortly.

"Gravity" is a film whose success rest largely on the female lead. This is the main reason that Cuaron persistently pursued Angelina Jolie to star on it, as the Hollywood actress had proven herself as a box office draw in her most recent. The film focuses on a female astronaut and her team leader stranded on a remote space station, following a satellite's explosion that eliminated her other team members. The main highlight of the story is the female heroine's attempt to return home and be reunited with her child.
