Angelina Jolie Choked Up At The 'Unbroken' Event As She Pays Her Gratitude To The Late Louis Zamperini's Kids
Angelina Jolie recently held a press event for her second directorial venture "Unbroken." The actor turned director met with the award voters and esteemed members of the Hollywood Press association to discuss her film. The event was held in New York at Porterhouse in the Time Warner Centre. Post the screening of her film, Jolie socialised with Academy members including Jodie Foster and M. Night Shyamalan. The cast of "Unbroken," including Jack O'Connell, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock, also joined Jolie.
"Unbroken" is based on the life on Olympic athlete Louis "Louie" Zamperini." It is a war drama and will showcase Louis' struggles who survives a plane crash in the Pacific and spends more than two and half years in the Japanese prisoner of war camps.
Interestingly, the press conference also saw attendance of Louis' children Cissy Zamperini and Luke Zamperini. She reportedly "choked up" while expressing her gratitude to the Louis' children for letting her tell the poignant tale of their father. "Thank you for letting me tell his story. It was the joy of my life to know him and to direct this film," she said as reported by Hollywood Reporter.
Jolie also handed the Congressional proclamation to Zamperini's kids as a way to pay tribute to their father's service to United States of America. The press event was preceded by a luncheon at the regal Metropolitan Club. Jolie mingled with media elites and various Academy members including Dana Ivey, Lois Smith, documentarian Laura Poitras and animator Jimmy Picker at the event, as reported by Vanity Fair.
Jolie's husband Brad Pitt was not seen at both the events. The actress and cast of the film will be seen promoting the film before it hits the theatres on Dec 25.
Meanwhile, post the release of the film; Jolie will get busy with her third directorial debut "By The Sea." The shooting of the film took place in Malta. The film stars Brad Pitt in the lead role. The 39-year-old actress will also be seen playing female lead opposite her husband. "By The Sea," tells a story of a married couple who is undergoing a mid-life crises.
