Angelina Jolie to Direct ’50 Shades of Grey,’ True or Hoax?
Just as everyone is on a hype about E.L. James' erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," rumors are spreading that A-list actress Angelina Jolie might be a candidate to direct the film.
"Fifty Shades of Grey," has become an international bestseller which almost guarantees a movie adaptation. The novel, which is a bout a submissive female journalist and a kinky billionaire, has already sold almost 10 billion copies. Focus Features and Universal studies reportedly paid $5 million for the movie rights.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the author E.L. James would be in engaged in choosing the scriptwriter, producer and director for the film. And as speculations about the cast and crew swirl around, another rumor that Angelina Jolie will direct the movie sparked.
Angelina Jolie had her directorial debut last 2011 with the movie "In the Land of Blood and Honey." The actress admitted of the struggle she had dealt with while shooting the Bosnian war film. Her efforts were nonetheless recognized at the premier of the movie. But the question now is, will Angelina Jolie be directing "50 Shades of Grey"?
Although it would have been controversial if she were to direct the film adaptation of the steamy novel, Angelina Jolie is denying reports that she will be the director. However, she's also not denying sources that she was approached by Focus and Universal about the project.
There is no definite cast for "50 Shades of Grey" yet but young starts like Amanda Seyfriend, Lucy Hale, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Benson, Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley have expressed their interest. There are no actors to star as who will play Christian Grey, but Hollywood hunks Alexander Skarsgard and Ian Somerhalder are topping the fan poll.
Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood also reports that Angelina Jolie is currently busy with her upcoming movie project "Maleficent."
