Angelina Jolie Hopes For An Oscar For 'Unbroken'
Angelina Jolie wants to bag an Oscar for her directorial venture 'Unbroken'. The film already premiered and has started receiving critical acclaims as well. Winner of an Academy award and three Golden Globe Awards, one of Hollywood's highest paid actresses is now aiming for an Oscar for the outstanding story about human struggle featured in her film.
Jolie has admitted her Oscar hopes at the red carpet event held in London for the premiere of her film, as shared by Stuff. 'Unbroken' is based on a book about the life of Louis Zameprini, who was an Olympic sprinter with an extraordinary life. He first survived 47 days on a life raft after his plane crashed into the Pacific only to spend the next two years as a prisoner of war during World War II.
The movie featured the heartwarming story of the war veteran, who was held hostage for two years by the Japanese army. Stuff shared that the movie details how he was repeatedly tortured by a seemingly psychotic Japanese prison guard. Zamperini is played by the actor Jack O'Connell while the Japanese guard is portrayed by pop singer and writer Miyavi. However, Zamperini could not watch this piece of work dedicated to his life as he died recently due to natural causes.
After the premiere screening, the movie has emerged as a strong contender for the Oscars under the category 'Best Picture' and the actress-turned-director is keeping her fingers crossed for the same. "I would be thrilled," gushed the 39-year-old newlywed actress when asked if she has hopes for any major movie award. "It would make me feel like I did a good job."
Jolie has also hinted several times that she is done with acting and is now more comfortable behind the camera, as told by Daily Mail. The beautiful actress also declared that she is even thinking about a drastic career move from showbiz to politics. Multiple sources like E!News and Fox News are claiming that Jolie may consider joining politics if she felt that she could really make a difference.
