Angelina Jolie Won’t Tighten Security After Brad Pitt’s Red Carpet Attack Scare
Angelina Jolie thought Brad Pitt handled his red carpet attacker “perfectly.” The “Maleficent” star said her family will not tighten their security after Brad was accosted by notorious Ukrainian reporter Vitalii Sediuk at the red carpet premiere of her film.
During the Los Angeles premiere of “Maleficent,” Brad was suddenly hit on the face by Sediuk, who jumped a barrier to get to the actor. Sediuk claimed that he was just trying to hug the actor.
Although the incident was probably a bit upsetting for the actor, his fiancée said that there was nothing to worry about.
Angelina said the incident doesn’t scare them off from interacting with their fans.
“People like that are an exception to the rule,” she told the Associated Press.
“Most fans are just wonderful. We’ve had a wonderful experience over the years, and we’re very grateful for their support, and it will not change the way we behave.”
The 38-year-old Oscar-winning actress also praised the father of her six children, saying Brad is a “strong man” and that he handled the situation “perfectly.”
Earlier, Brad also spoke up about the attack, saying that Sediuk, who is a known celebrity prankster, would be ruining the experience for everyone if he keeps up with his antics.
“I don’t mind an exhibitionist, but if this guy keeps it up he’s going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd,” he told People magazine.
“And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman’s dress again, he’s going to get stomped.”
Brad was referring to a separate incident involving Sediuk again. At the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, he tried to dive under actress America Ferrera’s dress. He was quickly dragged out of his unusual hiding place.
Sediuk has also victimised other celebrities, including Will Smith and Leonardo DiCaprio.
In court on Thursday, he was ordered to stay 500 yards away from red carpet events, movie premieres and award shows in the future after he pleaded no contest to battery and unlawful activity. He was sentenced to 20 days community labour and 36 months probation.
