Known for her immense privacy, Angelina Jolie shocked fans, friends and family with her public confession in her post with The New York Times. The mother of 6 and partner of Brad Pitt had undergone double mastectomy. In the post by Jolie, the actress had been undergoing treatment since February of this year and had finished treatments until April.
Support and admiration for Jolie had poured in ever since the news broke out of her operation. One person who had been greatly proud of Jolie's preventive move was her father, Jon Voight. In an exclusive interview with E! News, Jolie's father beamed with admiration and love for her daughter.
"My love and admiration for her can never be measured in words. I think she is an inspiration to many people who are faced with the same situation," stated Voight, adding, "I think she is quite magnificent in the way she is handling this. She is taking care of things. She does careful diligence and she has this courage to gather information and make decisions from it. It has been very successful and I heard she was able to travel soon afterwards."
Angelina Jolie's brave move should hope to inspire women from all over the world battling with cancer. As for Pitt, Jolie's husband-to-be has been fully supportive as well.
"Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie's choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for their care and focus," stated Pitt to London's Evening Standard, adding, "All I want...is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family."
Brad Pitt's mother, Jane Pitt, was also one to comment on Jolie's medical move.
"We're so very proud of Angie," said Jane in a statement with People, adding, "This means so much to our family especially our grandchildren. We love her dearly."
