"Unbroken" is Angelina Jolie's second movie as a director but it has a chance for winning an Oscar Award, many websites are speculating. The war movie is based on the real life story of Louis Zamperini (played by British actor Jack O'Connell) who broke Olympic records as an athlete but his life only got worse after that. Zamperini starved for weeks when he gets abandoned at sea after a plane crash.

His misery doesn't end when he is rescued from sea because he is captured as Prisoner of War by Japanese army. The story of the movie dates back to World War II and is based on the best-selling book by Laura Hillenbrand. Though the movie is scheduled to be released in January for public, it was opened for press on Monday and the reviews it has received are phenomenal.

Vulture.com is of the opinion that the movie has everything it takes to get the nomination for "Best Picture of the Year" at the Academy Awards. The website is of the opinion that Angelina Jolie has done a great job as a director and she should also be nominated for "Best Director" category.

"Though "Unbroken" is only her second directorial effort, Jolie obviously commands a profile that swamps most of her competition," says Kyle Buchanan from Vulture.com.

All the accolades that the movie is garnering would not have been possible without the lead actor Jack O'Connel's stunning performance. The website believes that O'Connel's acting skills are "so packed that plenty of worthy contenders will be snubbed" if he is nominated for Best Actor category.

Showbiz411.com is of the opinion that "Unbroken" might not be a "perfect" movie but it will sure help Jolie get numerous award nominations. "It's a huge accomplishment that will attract a huge audience and lots of nominations," writes the website.

Though the movie has generally garnered amazing reviews from various websites, some critics are of the opinion that Angelina did not do justice to Zamperini's story and could have done better at directing the war tale.

"Though epic and ambitious, Jolie's second outing as a director fails to do justice to the rousing real-life story of Louis Zamperini," writes The Guardian.com. IMDB.com, a popular movie rating website, too has given only 6.8 stars to the movie. Meanwhile, check out the official trailer below.
