Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Alicia Keys are fronting the cover of Glamour this month, part of their combined efforts to help highlight breast cancer and the lives it touches.

All three have directed short films for the Lifetime channel's Project Five anthology, a film initiative which seeks to entertain, inform, inspire dialogue, research, and prevention of breast cancer.

"We were intrigued by the challenge of creating short stories that would defy audiences' expectation of the subject," Aniston, 42, told the magazine. "We wanted to balance the drama with humor and irreverence because that's what's helped our friends who've faced this get through their treatment."

"We wanted stories that were informative without being heavy-handed. Oh, and they needed to be brilliantly written. Other than that, our goals were small," she joked.

In addition to the three ladies mentioned above, two other segments were directed by filmmakers Patty Jenkins ("Monster") and Penelope Spheeris ("Decline of Western Civilization").

The star-studded cast includes Patricia Clarkson, Rosario Dawson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Holloway, Jennifer Morrison, Kathy Najimy, Bob Newhart, Annie Potts, Tony Shalhoub, Jeffrey Tambor and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

"I think that so often there is that 'out of sight, out of mind' feeling, like breast cancer is happening to other people, not you," said Moore. "Before this project came up. Even I really didn't want to pay attention. I feel that this came to me to make me pay attention."

"Five" premieres on the Lifetime network on Oct. 10. The dramatic trailer for the film is below. To find out more, hit the channel's Stop Breast Cancer for Life campaign here.
