The "Princess Diaries" star finally gets her chance at happily ever after. Anne Hathaway recently announced that she is engaged.

The 29-year-old actress confirmed the news after she was photographed with boyfriend Adam Shulman in Brooklyn wearing a suspicious ring on her finger. Shulman, an actor and a jewelry designer, collaborated with Kwiat Heritage Jewels to make the ring.

The couple started dating in November 2008, getting photographed together the following year. The actress said that they got along well instantly but it took a while for them to finally engage in a relationship.

"He thought that I had a boyfriend and I thought that he had a girlfriend, so I thought that I'd better keep my distance because I didn't want to be that girl," the next Catwoman said.

She described their relationship as "mellow" and further added that the adjective doesn't make up for a good story but it definitely makes up for a good life.

"Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time and then I fall in love like a fool," the actress revealed in the September issue of UK's Marie Claire.

Before her romance with Shulman, she broke up in 2008 with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri. He was arrested for fraud charges and was sentenced four and a half years in prison.
