No matter how beautiful and talented she was, Anne Hathaway had never been as confident as she is today, at 31. While everyone perceives her as this self-assured young star whose movies, "Princess Diaries," "The Devil Wears Prada," and "Les Miserables," among many more, showed nothing else but her pure acting prowess, the actress said she doubted herself a lot. In fact, she did not know what to do with fame, and it stressed her out more than anything.

In her interview with the October issue of Elle UK (as reported via E!), the actress shared that fame was not something she enjoyed. "The fame thing? F-ked me up for a really long time," the Oscar winner said. She struggled with how to handle the attention that she was receiving. She did not have a clue how to deal with it because it was making her feel stressed out. People advised her to just be herself and she'll be fine. But it was easier said than done, especially since she did not know who she really was at that time.

After scoring her 2013 Academy Award win for her stellar performance in "Les Miserables," the actress shared that she chooses to get out of acting and Holllywood's radar for a while intentionally. Interestingly, she shared that she thought it was what everyone wanted. She told Huffington Post that she got the impression people needed to see less of her on their screens.

It was not as if she is just sitting round doing nothing on her break though. She recently got married to Adam Shulman on September 2012, and she had to learn the ropes of being a wife. However, she shared getting married made her feel more secure and safe in a relationship, something she was not able to do in her previous relationships. With a ring on her hand, she shared that she stopped asking how long a relationship is going to last. "That question of, 'How long's this gonna last?' is off the table. And when you're not worried about that, there's space to just be silly," the actress revealed.

Now that she feels more secure and safer, she probably knows herself better too. She said that she realized now that she does not need validation from anyone. She does not have to worry about pleasing everyone and to her, this feels liberating.
