In response to reports that Australia is helping the U.S. spy, a group called Anonymous Indonesia said it had hacked over 100 Web sites in Australia and defaced it by placing the message "Stop Spying on Indonesia."

The group posted on Twitter the list of over 100 Australian portals it had hacked, mostly Web sites of small enterprises.

Reports came out last week that the Australian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, is being used for espionage, resulting in Indonesia summoning the Australian ambassador on Friday to demand an explanation.

Besides Indonesia, China is likewise seeking an explanation from the U.S. over reports that Aussie embassies in Asia are part of the U.S. spying operations.

Also last week, a separate group called Anonymous Philippines claimed responsibility for hacking Philippine government Web sites as it sought more public support for a protest to demand the abolition of the government's pork barrel funds that both the president, senators and congressmen enjoy but is actually used for political patronage or worse, to enrich themselves and their cronies.

The hackers wrote, "We apologise for this inconvenience, but this is the easiest way we could convey our message to you, our dear brother and sisters who are tired of this cruelty and this false democracy, tired of this government and the politicians who only think about themselves."
