Another Shooting in School: 20-Year-Old Fires AK47 in Atlanta [VIDEO]
The police responded quickly to arrest a suspect Tuesday at a school in the Atlanta area. The police were called after shots were fired in the school.
It looked like another terrifying experience for a school that panicked after shots were fired in the premises. The shooting incident, however, left everyone relieved by the end of the day.
The arrested suspect is Michael Brandon Hill. The 20-year-old young man allegedly fired at least six shots from an AK47 at the Atlanta-based elementary school. The police officers returned fire consequently.
The resulting confrontation in the school caused a forced evacuation of over 800 students. But everyone was relieved that no injury was reported during the incident.
The shooting incident happened at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy, a charter school which is 5 years old. The school was named after an astronaut who passed away aboard Challenger, which got destroyed due to an explosion after it took off in 1986.
Previouly, 20 children were killed in a Newtown school by a young gunman in December 2012. The killing also involved six adults. The gunman, who was 20 years old, killed himself after the incident. The entire shooting was done using a high-powered firearm. The incident was alarming enough for every school to improve their security system.
Still, the recent shooting incident in the school gave people enough reasons to panic. According to the school authorities, the gunman was not able to get past the main office of the school. He tried hiding behind an authorized person to enter the school premises.
After his arrest, the suspect took time to get identified and then went through police interrogation. According to the police officials, the gunman was not injured.
