A five-year-old boy died and his young sister was injured when a brick wall gave way and fell on them at their rented home in Sale, Gippsland in Australia last night.

Police said the children's parents were devastated, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The children were playing at around 8:30 p.m. when the accident happened. The young boy was swinging on a mantelpiece when part of the brick chimney crumbled, giving way for debris to fall on the kids. At least one brick hit the young boy's head, causing critical injury and killing him.

The seven-year-old sister was treated in hospital for bruising to her leg.
