Apple App Store featured on Thursday the LoungeBuddy travel app which a young Aussie, Zac Altman, had co-founded.

Apple App Store has approximately 1 million apps in store that surely being featured is a great recognition for a budding team.

Mr Altman, 20, is originally from Sydney. He shared that the idea for the LoungeBuddy app came about because of a common frustration he and his co-founders had always experience - delayed flights.

"Air travel often sucks, with one out of six travellers having a significant flight disruption on their journey and 60 per cent of trips having a layover. We've had our fair share of flyer's fatigue. Flying can be a really negative experience and we want to change that," Mr Altman told The Sydney Morning Herald in an interview.

While being delayed, LoungeBuddy travel app can help users to find the nearest lounges they can find comfort while waiting for their flights. The travel app suggests lounges based on what credit card, which airline membership the users have and whether users can pay a one-time fee.

"Airport lounges are these oases to get away from the busy concourse with comfortable lounging and complimentary beer, wine and snacks. Some have showers, or sit down meals, or even a spa with free massages. It's hard enough to find the information about these lounges, with conflicting information at every turn, and the access requirements are complex. LoungeBuddy has done the hard work so our members don't have to," said Mr Altman.

Mr Altman also said that they were getting good feedback from those people who had already used the LoungeBuddy app. Users said that they were discovering lounges they didn't know they can access.

According to the team's estimate, since the LoungeBuddy app go through airport lounges in the top 300 airports worldwide, the industry is worth more than $US10 billion.

Mr Altman said that he had celebrated LoungeBuddy's success with a gourmet pizza.

"It feels like a million downloads (hopefully), as it's given us a very privileged opportunity to get in front of a massive audience early on. Apple's good graces don't come easily, so we are making the most of this event by scrutinising the cavalcade of feedback and usage data ..."

About the LoungeBuddy Travel App

LoungeBuddy helps those experiencing frustrations about delayed flights to find the nearest airport lounges where they can relax, have some entertainment, be productive and freshen up.

To use the travel app, the user will simply have to key in information like elite status, lounge memberships and credit cards, along with his or her itinerary.

LoungeBuddy is available in the Apple App Store for iPhone. Users can create their profile, manage their reviews, photos and access methods.
