Apple applications in the cars of the future

Driving and facebook can be done at the same time thanks to the next generation of luxury cars from Mercedes Benz, Audi, Land Rover, and Volkswagen, you would not be missing out on your social networking or emails while on a road trip.
Global car manufacturers are keen to put up Apple product applications in future car models, reports have revealed.
Leading car manufacturers Audi, Land Rover and Volkswagen have all showed how the iPhone and iPad will play significant offerings in their car models to be launched in the coming months, reports from the Geneva Motor Show said.
Audi, Land Rover and Volkswagen had each displayed a vehicle, which can help support the iPad and the iPhone while still navigating the streets.
The Audi A3 concept and limited edition Range Rover Autobiography both featured special docks for the iPad tablet device. Volkswagen's new Bulli concept - a preview of an anticipated modern-day version of the popular Kombi van - went a stage further by incorporating a full iPad docking station into its dash.
Another German manufacturer Mercedes Benz wants to first to improve its media interface to accommodate the iPhone and iPod key applications including the audio streaming.
"With every new device from Apple we have to think about we can integrate it with our systems," said Steffen Baumgaertner of Mercedes-Benz's telematics development division in a report quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.
"Due to our research development, we try to have a good relationship with Apple. We are now thinking about the iPad, and we are considering whether to go this way [with a docking station]. But Android and Google are equally important. As a car maker we have to look at all systems that are available in the market and find a solution for all of them," he said.
Mercedes-Benz said Apple connectivity is vital if car makers are to appeal to younger buyers-their target market and audience.
