Apple and Samsung relationship has been on the news for quite some time. Both companies claim the other violated legal provisions. As the tension continue to intensify, Apple started sourcing out to other parties for the components of their upcoming iPad mini 2 and iPad 5. Can Apple really ditch Samsung and produce their upcoming mobile devices successfully?

Both versions of the iPad posted excellent sales. However, people are more interested over the Retina Display edition than the standard second generation iPad mini. Considering the iPad 4 came six months after the release of the iPad 3, Apple has shifted from its annual upgrade to a shorter time span. Reports suggest if Apple follows their current pace, the company could release the new iPads any time soon.

This is also the main reason why reports for third party providers have sprung up. Apple and Samsung compete for smartphones and tablets directly. Throughout the years, Samsung served as the base level manufacturer of Apple's components. Many parts in the iPhone and iPad were from Samsung's production.

Following Samsung's release of their line of smartphones and tablets, Apple spent the last few years filing legal action and holding Samsung liable for patent infringement. Apple filed the lawsuits in different parts of the world accusing Samsung of copying the products. The company indicated Samsung's products are too similar to their line of devices.

Samsung filed a counter lawsuit leading to a more intense legal fight between the two companies. As they continue to go head to head in the courtroom, competition between Samsung and Apple has grown stiff. ET News reported that Apple will be ordering their iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 components from third party providers except Samsung. This can potentially bite some of the revenues from the Korean tech giant.

There are still speculations going around the final details of the new iPads. People are looking forward to the Retina Display feature and whether there are new camera and processor specs. The market will have to wait.
