The much awaited upgrade to OS X Yosemite for Apple iMacs and MacBooks will be launched in autumn. Apple promises a brand new look to the operating system giving the iMac and MacBook a face lift.

The OS X Yosemite is designed by keeping in mind the needs of the users. Many interesting features were added with the essential elements of the Mac. The software will make the Mac more powerful and easy to use. The dock has got an entire make-over and icons are sleek less than three dimensional. The Yosemite is translucent so that any programs behind the window can be seen.

With the idea to make the software more user friendly, many large and small details were added to the Yosemite. The steam lined toolbar lets the user do more in less space. Today's view can be customized according to preferences. The widget, calendar, weather and even posting to social networking sites is made easy with today's view. With all of these features, the notification centre will be improved and more interesting.

In the previous Mac versions, only local files could be searched in the toolbar. The Spotlight search in the new upgrade will not only search local files but other things of interest, like information about local restaurants, what to eat, movie tickets etc.

Without opening a new program, editing images and texts inside the mail can be done with the Apple Markup tool. Important documents could be signed using the touch pad in the MacBook making it all more user friendly. Adding shapes and highlights in images and documents will be easier.

One of the added highlight of the OS X Yosemite is that large files could be sent via Mail Drop feature. The recipient of the mail could directly access the file through the iCloud account. If the recipient does not have an iCloud account, a link will be sent to them and they could download it from the link. iCloud will make it a simple and convenient way of sharing photos and videos of large sizes. Dropbox and Google Drive have become very popular. Apple is treating the iCloud as a normal storage drive. Working with the drive will be as simple as working with the systems local drive.

The Apple OS X Yosemite will run on most Macs and the upgrade will be available for free in autumn.
