Apple iOS 7 Download “Error Occurred” Frustrates Users
Prior to the Apple iOS 7 Sept 18 release date, Apple made its loyal customers excited and waiting for the all new 200 features that iOS 7 brings iPhone, IPad and iPod users.
"iOS 7 is completely redesigned with an entirely new user interface and over 200 new features, so it's like getting a brand new device, but one that will still be instantly familiar to our users. Next month we'll be shipping our 700 millionth iOS device, and we're excited about what our hundreds of thousands of iOS developers are doing to bring great new features to their apps," Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, said in an official statement from Apple.
However, those who were trying to download the iOS7 on Sept 18 reported frustrating experiences while downloading. They said that they get "error occurred" or "software update failed" messages. Some were reporting that they cannot connect to iTunes Store. While the majority of those downloading iOS 7 rant about the software taking forever to download.
As much as Apple's services page assured all users that all its services are up and running, the guilty party to this problem were Apple's servers that cannot accommodate the millions of users hitting to get the download.
According to a report from CNET, the iOS 7 update is larger than most Apple downloads in the past. The iOS 7 download can range in the mid-600MB for older iPhone and iPad users. The range can go up to 935MB for users on Apple's fourth-generation iPad.
Those who want to download need lots of free space.
Meanwhile, those frustrated about the iOS 7 download took their frustrations out through the Apple Support Communities:
"I've paid for an app I can't download cos I can't update my iOS software. Can I get my money back?"
"I don't like the look or feel of the new changes. It feels like an Android but more childish. I want the sophisticated iPhone back...."
"Indians in India ... any problems downloading iOS 7 over iCloud?"
"Is there a place to report bugs? Or just sit and wait?"
"my update downloaded successfully and phone went off while updating it got back on but it stuck on the plug in screen please need help :-( I admit it's pretty frustrating not being able to update the IOS software and I consider that to be somewhat Apple's responsibility."
"I just updated to iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 and all of that went smoothly. When I go into the App store to redownload my apps and look under purchased there is nothing there. If I go to an app that I know I have purchased before it pops up saying I already purchased and I can redownload it for free. I have tried logging back in and out and cant bring up my purchase history."
Some took their rants to Twitter:
If you got the IOS 7 with no error, your blessed cause millions of ppl as I just read is seeing a error message including me
