It's the newest device available on the market, and Richard Ryan of the Web site RatedRR decided to give Apple's iPad Air a torture test made up of four parts. First, he dropped it on soft ground then on concrete, followed by dunking it in a container of water and finally hitting it with the Airsoft MP7.

Priced at $548.50 and made available in stores on Nov 1, iPad Air tablet has a functionality almost similar to 2012's tablet, but performs faster and provides better video chatting experience.

Mr Ryan was himself surprised to see that the iPad Air, when dropped on soft ground from a height of about one metre, immediately failed the torture test and showed cracks on its screen.

When dropped from the same height on concrete, the case suffered dents and more cracks showed on its screen. Mr Ryan then tried to test if the tablet is still running, and he could hear the device attempting to run but was not successfully.

In the third test, he dropped the iPad Air in a plastic container of water and the device went dead.

With a useless device on hand, Mr Ryan did the ultimate and used the iPad Air as target for his Airsoft M7. By the time he finishes the last of the torture test, the tablet, if compared to meat, is double dead.

Take a look at the entire torture test in the following video that went viral with more than 300,000 hits in just a few days.

While Mr Ryan had to do four tests to find out how durable the iPad Air is, Vodafone just reported that an iPad Air exploded by itself while charging in a store in Australia. But, of course, that's another different story altogether.
