Apple iPhone 5 Fans React via Funny Memes vs Samsung’s anti-Apple Campaigns
Some iPhone 5 enthusiasts are very unhappy with Samsung's latest mock-the-Apple-fans campaign. Other observers have had enough of the hype. And then the rest just keeps on reading, spreading and creating funny memes about Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 5.
There seems to be a lot more iPhone users among meme creators. Could the latest Samsung ad be a deliberate attack against anti-Samsung meme generators and Facebook trolls?
A couple of weeks back, Samsung asked its Facebook followers the particular Samsung gadget that they would like to get stuck with in an island. The "stuck in an island" is an age-old phrase used to push those surveyed to prioritize. However, Facebook trolls invaded the status with "iPhone 5" answers. Samsung probably thought it was not funny. So, queue mocking anti-Apple fans ad video.
You have to watch the video to get the message in some of the memes included in the accompanying slideshow. Meanwhile, John Gruber, an iPhone 5 reviewer, tries to remain objective in his writings. He continues to give the iPhone 5 positive reviews without being much of an anti-Samsung. Yet when the new Samsung ad came out, he wrote:
"Samsung isn't playing for first place, they're playing for second place - and that's worked out well for them."
Gruber of daringfireball.net also wrote:
"(T)here is no benchmark, no tech spec, to measure nice. But you can feel it," as if implying that the improvements Apple made with its latest smartphone have been underrated.
Here are more reactions from those who have seen the latest anti-iPhone 5 video by Samsung mobile:
OT2K [computerworld.com]: I don't remember Apple making fun of consumers of competitors. The Mac v. PC ad was ...comparing Mac v. PC, just with a hipster as the Mac dude and boring suit as a PC.
Garywhitta[Twitter]: I really hope someone with a Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn't walk by and make me feel dumb while I'm camping out for my iPhone this week.
Mitchell_Hart [Twitter]: Saw the latest Samsung ad mocking the iPhone (or their customers) Not sure they understand difference between good product and feature list
Mynameisblair [Twitter]: Samsung's new adverts seem to be annoying & attacking their targets (current iPhone owners) rather than converting them. Great marketing!
