Apple iPhone 5 Release in 2012: The "New iPhone?"
The recent release of the new iPad has sparked numerous rumors about the possible release of iPhone 5 within the year. There were many speculations that were formed based on the specifications revealed in the new iPad since both Apple products have the same OS.
Here are some of the rumored specifications and features of Apple's newest iPhone:
iPhone 5 vs. new iPhone
Before it was released, Apple's iPad was referred to by different reports as iPad 3. After it was officially released last March 7, it was revealed that the official name was "the new iPad". There are many experts that are speculating that rumored name of iPhone 5 will be replaced with the "new iPhone" which is patterned after the new iPad's name.
OS and Processor
It is already given that the new iPad and iPhone 5 have the same OS which is iOS 5.1. Due to this fact, there are some people who are claiming the next iPhone could probably have the same A5X chip and powerful GPU in order to have the same processing capability with the new iPad. If this news is true, then the iPhone 5 can also claim to be the most powerful smartphone in the market once it is launched.
4G LTE Capability
One of the highlighted features of the new iPad is its ability to have a 4G LTE connection. This means that the new iPad would be able to access the Internet at a much faster and powerful speed in any given time. In line with this, there are also resources stating that the new iPhone 5 will also have the same capability. According to the news report by Digitimes, the supposed iPhone 5 that will be launched by mid-year of 2012 will likely support 4G LTE.
Though that is the case, the support for 4G LTE is still limited to North America due to the difference in frequency bands. Here is a brief explanation of the matter:
Currently, 700MHz and 2,100MHz are used in North America, 800MHz and 2,600MHz in Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 800MHz, 1,800MHz, 2,300MHz and 2,600MHz in Eastern Europe, and 1,800MHz and 2,100MHz in Asia Pacific, the sources indicated. The frequency bands adopted for LTE networks around the world in 2015 will have 38 combinations, with 700MHz to have the largest proportion at 16%, 2,100MHz to have 13%, 2,600MHz 11% and 2,500MHz 10%, the sources cited Wireless Intelligence under the GSMA as indicating.
These features are just some of the rumors that are spreading in the web about the iPhone 5 release. So far, Apple has not yet released any official statement to confirm or deny the rumors about the latest iPhone 5.
