Apple iPhone 7 to have new noise-canceling technology in the audio system
Apple will be licensing the new audio processing technology
Rumour mills were producing news about the iPhone 7 even before iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were due to be released. Previous reports stated that iPhone 7 will ditch the headphone jack to make the smartphone the slimmest device. A report from Fast Company confirms the rumours and also shares some more details about the iPhone 7.
Sources confirm to Fast Company that iPhone 7 will not have the headphone jack and instead it will come with a Lightning port. It also cites some interesting facts to back it up.
According to its source, iPhone 7 includes the Lightning port and it will be hot-wired for sound output to wired headphones. It also comes with Bluetooth headphones. In order to achieve the objectives, Apple has sealed a deal with its long-term audio chip partner, Cirrus Logic. The company also partnered with Wolfson Microelectronics UK to use the new noise-canceling technology in the audio system. Reportedly, the software by the company will be installed both in the iPhone and in the headphones or EarPods. As always, Apple will be licensing the new audio processing technology.
However, Sony already uses the similar audio technology and introduced it in the Xperia Z3+ that was launched in 2015 at MWC Barcelona, claims Firstpost.
Again, Apple will be adding another feature that is already being offered by Sony, which is waterproofing. Fast Company’s sources confirmed to them that iPhone 7 will be a waterproof device and will also have new features like wireless charging, which was already seen in Apple Watch. The new features will make an entry into Apple’s mobile device lineup.
Sources also conceded that Apple will add the above features in a development cycle at a later stage. Sensing the tough competition in the smartphone market, Apple plans to include these features to attract its existing users to upgrade to a newer iPhone as well as other users to buy the new device.
