Apple iWatch Production Starts in July with a Rectangular 2.5 inch Display
It has been reported recently that Apple's upcoming iWatch will undergo a trial run produced by the Taiwan's Quanta Computer and is expected to start its mass production in July in order to prepare for its Fall launch.
The LG Display is said to be the exclusive supplier of the screen which was rumoured previously.
The Reuters report says, "While the watch is widely expected, the start date of its mass production and the extent of Quanta's involvement were not known until now. Mass production will start in July and the commercial launch will come as early as October, according to the source and another person familiar with the matter".
In addition, Reuters highlight that the Apple's iWatch could also measure at 2.5 inches diagonally with a rectangular display face. The device is also expected to slightly extend beyond from the band in order to create an arch shape which is reported to include a touch interface and wireless charging.
The 2.5 inch screen is indicated much larger than the predicted size of the iWatch by various sources. It was rumoured earlier that the device might come in 1.3 inches and 1.6 inches in order to hold on the different wrist sizes. Though it will be more of square in shape, a 2.5 inches device will be similar to the existing iPod nano.
The iWatch is suggested to have a sensor that will monitor pulse rate of the user and this would be one of the sensors out of all the sensors included in the device. Rumours also point out that the iWatch has the capability of measuring several different health metrics along with various heart rate specifications like steps taken, sleep quality and many more.
Aside from including a collection of health-related information through sensors, Apple iWatch is also expected to interface with the iPhone and iOS 8 and manages the notifications and information to be viewed at a glance. Therefore, Reuters reports that while iWatch is performing some of its functions independently, functions like messaging and voice chat will require a paired smartphone.
The report confirms that iWatch will be released in October which was previously shared by Re/code.
