After the announced Siri enhancements at the Worldwide Development Conference (WWDC), Cupertino tech giant Apple post job ads that will teach the digital assistant Siri to expand her existing lexicon and at the same time understand and speak 13 more new languages.

According to the job listings on Apple Web site, the company is looking for highly motivated language engineers for cloud service localisations who are fluent in Australian English, British English, Thai, Cantonese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Turkish, Norwegian, and Brazilian Portuguese.

The job postings required that the candidate must have software development skills and strong preference for some focus or experience in classification, information retrieval, natural language processing, machine learning or related sub-fields.

Candidates should also have interest in embedded application for they will be required to handle Siri's speech recognition, natural language processing, big data consumption, and speech synthesis. They are also tasked to bring innovative solutions to complex engineering issues and develop natural language processing codes to the respective native languages.

Apple has been constantly upgrading the digital assistant Siri since it was introduced in iOS 5 for it to be able to manage the increasingly intricate tasks.

During the WWDC 2014, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook and Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi mentioned that Siri will be added to OS 10 Yosemite. Just like the current iOS 7, the OS 10 Yosemite users will be able to just speak up their wish like sending messages, scheduling meetings, or placing phone calls and the intelligent digital assistant will do it for them. Siri will even talk back to the user and will also be able to perform other tasks that will literally make the users wish to be Siri's command.

With the debut of iOS 8 later this year, Siri is also set to handle Apple's home automation platform HomeKit. According to Apple, the home automation platform will support lights, thermostat, cameras, and others which will allow users to handle "scene management." With this platform, Siri will roll out the integrated home commands that will allow users to lock doors, shut of lights, and other capabilities so they can "get ready for bed."
