Apple’s 12-Inch MacBook Air To Hit Mass Production In The First Quarter Of 2015
The new MacBook has been previously rumoured to enter production in the fall of 2014, but it didn't happen. According to Taiwanese website Digitimes, the MacBook Air had its pilot production at the end of 2014 and is expected to hit its mass production by first quarter of 2015. The report also says that the Apple Watch might also enter production side by side with the MacBook Air. In addition, Apple's suppliers have also been pressured to meet the demands of the rigorous production of the rumoured devices. The report doesn't include many details about the new laptop, but does claim that Intel's Broadwell processor will power it.
Based on its track record, it is important to note that Taiwans' Digitimes is not consistently reliable when it comes to updates regarding upcoming Apple products. In the past, there have been instances where in the website (and its sources) has been incorrect.
Looking back, the 12-inch MacBook was believed to have a thinner design compared to the existing MacBooks. It was also heard that Apple's current MagSafe charging connector will be replaced with something new. The new MacBook Air is also expected to sport a fanless design, super thin bezels and an improved compact keyboard. Rumours also say that the laptop will come in gold, silver and gray variants, following the colours of the latest iPhones and iPads.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities supports the speculations by saying that the upcoming MacBook Air might sport a 12-inch form factor and might feature a fanless design. The analyst also added that the laptop might feature fewer inputs and outputs plus the possibility of a click-less TrackPad.
In addition, the speed of Apple's current MacBook Air line was updated to perform faster and even its price was cut down. The screens of the existing MacBook Air models are available in 11.6 and 13.3 inches, Apple Insider reports.
Finally, Quanta Computer is alleged to be the manufacturer of the latest laptop but the company refused to confirm the news. The much awaited 12-inch MacBook Air might focus on the high-end market and might have limited shipments.
