Apple's iMac: Release Date and Possible Specifications
One of the things that was noticeable during the recently concluded WWDC 2012 was the lack of iMac details. Before the big event, there were a lot of speculations regarding Apple's iMac but all of these speculations were halted when there was no mention or even a hint of iMac during the said event.
This prompted people to wonder if iMac would not be receiving any update that is similar with the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. An Apple Executive who refused not to be identified disclosed information that "new models and designs are under way". This also lead to new rumors about Apple's iMac and here is a summary of the rumors regarding this popular desktop from Apple:
iMac Release Date
Before WWDC 2012, many speculated that 2012 would be the year where a new iMac model would be unveiled. This seems to be a remote possibility now since no word about iMac was uttered during the WWDC. In fact, it seems like this device was forgotten during the event. This is not the case according to David Pogue from The New York Times. He disclosed that the same Apple executive revealed that the possible release date for a new and improved iMac would be by 2013.
iMac Possible Specifications
Now that Apple have upgraded the MacBook Pro line, there are also news that Apple is planning the same strategy with iMac. One speculated feature of the future iMac would be incorporating a Retina display. This would mean that iMac would be having more high-resolution pixels to its 21-inch screen and 27-inch screen model. Aside from display, its processor is also expected to be improved alongside its solid-state flash memory. Other rumored specifications for iMac also includes USB 3.0 and Thunderbolts ports.
Since Apple is still silent about the future of iMac, all of these are just rumored specifications which means the information written here could still change at any given time. Based on the statement from the Apple executive, Apple is still giving priority to their iMac line. It would be interesting to see how Apple would take on making iMac more interesting and innovative.
