Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus Vs. Google’s Nexus 6: 2014’s Fabulous Phablets Showdown
Apple's famed phablet apparently took over the large screen sector when it was introduced in the market but the Nexus 6 has definitely grown in size and was priced just right to match its major rival. Google's phablet is now being sold through various major carriers and it looks like Google isn't playing anymore.
Another look on the specs and features of the iPhone 6 Plus and Nexus 6 will be worth consumers' time especially during the holiday season. And the question on which phablet is reigning supreme in the market is yet to be answered.
Design
The iPhone 6 Plus is basically a larger iPhone 6 with it's the same high-end premium look and very stylish form factor. It is also lighter than its rival weighing 129 grams while the Nexus 6 weighs 184 grams.
The Nexus 6 on the other hand is a larger Moto X mainly because it is built by Motorola. According to Know Your Mobile's review, the Nexus 6 maybe the same size with the iPhone 6 Plus but it feels easier to grip with its weight, shape and proportion. The phablet sports an aluminum frame and comes with built-in dual front-facing speakers plus a centered camera on its rear.
Display
The 5.5-inch display on Apple's phablet is a bit smaller with an HD display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 sports a bigger screen and the 6 on its name actually pertains to its 6-inch monster screen. It has a quad HD display with 2560x1440 pixels and 493ppi for its pixel density.
Processor
The iPhone 6 Plus is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual core 64-bit A8 processor making the phablet perform with impressive speed. The Nexus 6 uses the Snapdragon 805 processor which can run up to2.7 GHz speed. It is also equipped with Adreno 420 graphics processor and 3GB of RAM.
Memory and Storage
The iPhone 6 Plus offers more memory though it could be very expensive. It comes in 16GB, 65GB and 128GB versions, while the Nexus 6 comes in 32GB or 64GB versions.
Camera
Apple's phablet features an 8 megapixel dual-LEP camera which can support 1,080p videos at 60 frames per second. Its 1.2 MP front facing-camera is also a good treat for selfie-enthusiasts.
On the other hand, the Nexus 6 boasts of a 13-megapixel camera equipped with dual-LED flash which allows users to shoot 4K videos at 30 frames per second. Its 2MP front-facing camera is also an edge versus the iPhone 6 Plus.
Based on Tech Times' comparison between the iPhone 6 Plus and the Nexus 6, both devices are obviously great performers. However, the Nexus 6 tends to be more enticing due to its relatively cheaper price. The 32GB version of the Nexus 6 costs US$649 while the 64GB version costs US$699, while Apple's iPhone 6 Plus' price ranges from US$749 to US$949.
