Arnold Schwarzenegger Unveils Life-Sized Official Portrait With Wife Maria Shriver's Face Covered With Blue Paint
It seems Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to forget about his marriage to Maria Shriver so much he asked for her face to be scrubbed from his official portrait as California governor. The job was done so poorly that it was noticeable.
The Post reports the California governor asked for the picture of his wife to be erased from his official portrait following reports of Shriver dating Arnold's campaign strategist surfaced. The Post claims Arnold just wanted the task done fast that he did not even care if it would be evident to California Capitol insiders.
Noticed they did. The California Capitol insiders were said to be very surprised when they saw the small picture of the former lady is now gone from the ex-governor's 6-foot-high oil paintinge. On Monday, the huge portrait was unveiled at the Sacramento statehouse.
Originally, Shriver's face was strategically positioned on the small lapel pin that Arnold wore when he was being painted back in 2003. It was a cute gesture that the ex-governor now seemingly want to erase from memory. Now, the picture was covered over by blue paint that looked smudged and poorly applied. It was done haphazardly that the eyes of everyone who saw the portrait immediately went there.
"Whoever touched it up did not do a very good job," shared the Capitol tour guide Richard Granis to the The Post. "It was softball sized, right there on his left lapel."
Another Capitol staffer claimed the smudge of blue did not match the matting of the rest of the portrait completed by the renowned Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein. "That's what makes it especially noticeable," claimed the staffer. This move was surprising but not unexpected, following news of Shriver's affair with Arnold's campaign strategist, Matthew Dowd, broke out back in 2006.
Shriver filed for a divorce in 2010 when she discovered Arnold fathered a love child with their maid on that year. The divorce is yet to be finalised. A rep for Schwarzenegger is yet to return a request for comment.
