After 7 years hiatus, the critically acclaimed sitcom "Arrested Development" is set to return for its 4th season. But instead of airing on the small screen, all 15 episodes of the comedy series will be released simultaneously on Netflix on May 26 in the U.S.

Despite numerous accolades, including 6 Emmy Award and 1 Golden Globe wins, and overwhelming critical praise, the show continued to receive low viewership when it was still airing on Fox network, which cancelled the series after 3 seasons.

Internet streaming site Netflix then saved the show from oblivion by licensing new episodes for online distribution.

The show, which is about the misadventures of the dysfunctional Bluth family, will see the return of all main characters: Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), the show's straight man; his teenage son George Michael (Michael Cera); his older brother Gob (Will Arnett); his younger brother Buster (Tony Hale); his twin sister Lindsay (Portia de Rossi); his niece Maeby (Alia Shawkat); his brother-in-law Tobias (David Cross); his mother Lucille (Jessica Walter); and his dad George Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor).

There will be a new format for the show, with each episode of the upcoming season will focus on one individual character, showing what the character had been up to since the conclusion of the previous season.

Still, fans can expect the same brand of comedy from the Bluths.

Cera, who has helped co-write the new season, promises that "things are about to get even weirder" in the already odd Bluth family.

"The incest this season branches out in all direction," he was quoted by www.seattlepi.com as saying.

There won't be another season after the upcoming fourth, though. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings previously said that the show's stay with them is a one-off and unrepeatable.

"Arrested Development" isn't the only show with that will be available for online streaming. All 13 episodes of the new political drama "House of Cards" were uploaded to Netflix, and are available for the U.S. audience to download.
