‘Arrow’ Scoop: Speedy, The Huntress, and Laurel’s Mom Return; What You’ve Missed [MINOR SPOILERS]
The CW's "Arrow" left viewers picking up some shocked jaws after last month's surprise action-packed, pivotal episode called, "Dead to Rights." Lead actor Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow, warned the fans via Twitter about the episode, saying "do your best not to blink."

If you have heard much about the series, but haven't seen an episode, now is a good time to catch up. The series is on mini-hiatus, and some major developments are under way. For instance, have you met Laurel's mom?
Arrow Season 1, Episode 17: 'The Huntress Returns'
This is the episode synopsis on TV.com for Arrow's Mar. 20 episode:
"Oliver's life is going smoothly for once... until the Huntress returns to town. Meanwhile, Thea gets Roy Harper at job at the new club just in time for its opening night, and Laurel and Quentin try to come to grips with Dinah's return."
In the DC Comics, Dinah Drake is known as Black Canary, wife of detective Larry Lance. Arrow viewers have yet to see whether Dinah's daughter, Dinah Laurel Lance, will be Black Canary on TV. Interestingly, Dinah returns in the previous episode to announce Sara could still be alive. (Sara, Laurel's sister, has been presumed dead since the accident that changed Oliver Queen's life.)
Meanwhile, viewers will also be treated to more Speedy scenes, as Roy Harper aka Red Hood enters the Queen family territory. If he's hired in the club, then it won't take long before he joins Oliver's crime-fighting club, which currently has only 3 members. Colton Haynes plays Roy Harper, and he is expected to boost the show's viewership among the "tweens" group.
The CW's Arrow Character Update: Malcolm Merlyn
"Doctor Who" viewers know John Barrowman as Capt. Jack Harkness. He takes a much darker turn for Arrow as bad guy Malcolm Merlyn aka Dark Arrow. He has finally been given just-about screen time in the pre-hiatus episode last month. As Tommy's dad, he is much easier to appreciate. As Merlyn, there seems to be much to hate. But the TV viewers don't know much yet, except killing thousands of people is "great" for him.
In a nutshell, here's what you've missed from the last episode: There was a lot more action than usual. A big assassination plot was foiled. One big secret was revealed, and someone's mom issues are about to be explored.
