"Arrow" Season 2, Episode 8, "The Scientist," airs on Dec. 4 on The CW. There is no new episode this week, but Queen and company will return with an explosive episode "in a flash." In Arrow 2x08, Barry Allen meets Oliver Queen in Starling City. Grant Gustin and Stephen Amell are teasing fans on Twitter. Watch a sneak peek of The Flash origins in the video below.

Spoiler alert: This feature contains minor spoilers from the next episode of Arrow Season 2. Episode 8, titled "The Scientist," is the first of the show's 2-part mid-season finale.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is the titular scientist in Arrow 2x08. Here is the episode summary as seen on TV.com: "Police scientist Barry Allen travels to Starling City to investigate a seemingly impossible robbery from Queen Consolidated's Applied Science Division, and Felicity takes a liking to him... much to Oliver's dismay. Meanwhile, Sin asks Roy for help tracking down a missing friend, and Thea joins her boyfriend in the hunt, only for one of them to be injured."

The Flash aka Barry Allen will join fellow DC comics characters in Arrow 2x08, led by Oliver Queen. Sin (Bex Taylor-Klaus), the tough young woman under Black Canary's wing, is returning, too. Sin, Roy (Colton Haynes aka the future Red Arrow) and Thea (Willa Holland), being the "kids" in the series, are in for some (more) trouble.

Seth Gabel was well-received on Twitter for his The Count aka Count Vertigo reprisal in Arrow 2x07. Below is a proof from Stephen Amell himself. Can former Glee star Grant Gustin match that?

Here is Grant Gustin in a Twitter photo. He's mocking Oliver Queen in an Arrow poster, prompting Stephen Amell to react in jest. What is it about Barry Allen that would make Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) like him? And why would Oliver be "dismayed" about that? (Jealousy, Olicity shippers?) Originally, Grant was set to appear in three Arrow Season 2 episodes. But the showrunners later decided to give The Flash a traditional pilot on The CW. The backdoor pilot on Episode 20 was cancelled. Arrow Season 2, Episodes 8 and 9, are the only Barry Allen appearances ahead of an independent show for the character. "I grew up a Superman fan, and a DC comics fan ... and I relate to that. That was my favorite thing during the audition process, the awkwardness and the fanboy inside of him that I definitely can relate to," Gustin told ET Online in an interview.
