‘Arrow’ Season 3 Casts: Oliver Queen's New Mentor, 'Katana' Replaced

The much-anticipated Season 3 of "Arrow" will premiere on Oct. 8, Wednesday, this year. Ahead of its comeback, more and more possible spoilers and cast updates have been revealed online. Recent casting news points to another actress who will reportedly take over the role of Katana in the show.

Rila Fukushima has been reported to take over the role of Katana in the Season 3 of "Arrow," according to The Wrap. An insider told the site that the actress will have a major recurring role in the new season of the hit show.

The site claims Rila Fukushima as Tatsu Yamashiro aka "Katana" will reportedly appear in flashback scenes during Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) time on the island. She will be showcasing her skills at martial arts and will play mentor to Queen, providing significant influence on his journey to become "The Arrow" of present day. She will also be joined by Oliver Queen's other mentor, Maseo Yamashiro, played by Karl Yune, adds Movieweb.

As a skilled martial artist, comingsoon.net claims Katana derived her name from the lethal sword she wields. The weapon is believed to contain the souls of all the people she has killed, not to mention her deceased husband. The site claims it's uncertain if this angle from the comics will be interjected into the Season 3 of "Arrow." Katana is reportedly not only linked to the Birds of Prey but also to Batman's The Outsiders.

It's still uncertain how many episodes in the Season 3 of "Arrow" the actress has signed on for, but her replacement reportedly comes after previous "Katana" actress Devon Aoki was forced to give up her role due to conflicts in schedule.

Rila Fukushima was reportedly last seen in Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine," where she played the role of Yukio, an assassin tasked to hunt down the mutant. It was believed to be her first acting gig as she has been a full-time model.

"Arrow" episode 3.1, "Season 3, Episode 1" returns to the CW Channel at its slated timeslot at 8:00 p.m. EST. Other casts include Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Emily Bett Rickards, and Colton Haynes.
