‘Arrow’ Season 4, Episode 23 Promo (‘Schism’): Hope for Darhk’s finale, Momma Smoak says it’s ‘scary’ [VIDEO]

“Arrow” Season 4, Episode 23 airs May 25 on The CW with a “scary” ending. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) needs light and hope on his side to save Star City and the world. Watch the Arrow 4x23 promo clip below. Meanwhile, Charlotte Ross has said “Schism” is “intense, painful, shocking and scary.”

Spoiler alert: This update contains “Arrow” Season 4 spoilers. Details include a quick recap of Arrow 4x22 (“Lost in the Flood”) a.k.a. the season’s penultimate episode.

In the final moments of Arrow 4x22 (original air date: May 18 on The CW), Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross), Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) are standing before Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), well aware of his evil nature.

Darhk pays Felicity a visit after learning that his wife Ruvé (Janet Kidder) has died. Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) tells Darhk that Lonnie Machin (Alexander Calvert) killed Ruvé. But in the end, he chooses to unleash his anger on Ollie’s beloved Felicity to force her or her father Noah Kuttler a.k.a. The Calculator (Tom Amanders) to give him access to Rubicon.

Meanwhile, Darhk’s daughter Nora (Tuesday Hoffman) is with Oliver, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) – all four are safe after the devastation at Tevat Noah, otherwise known as Darhk’s dream world.

In the flashback sequences in Arrow 4x22, Taiana (Elysia Rotaru) and Baron Reiter (Jimmy Akingbola) get ready to fight to the death. Taiana was starting to lose control, but she did not want to kill Oliver. Some fans are expecting to see Taiana in the present timeline, helping Oliver in the “Arrow” Season 4 finale.

Heroes and regular people need hope and saving, Olive realizes this at the end of 4x22. In the 4x23 promo video, he rallies the people of Star City to fight Damien Darhk, presumably to repel his magic with hope in their hearts. It remains to be seen whether any DC character will come in to help out.

Darhk’s power is not diminished by the death of his wife. If he couldn’t gain control of Rubicon to burn the world in nuclear flames, he has sufficient power to be truly mad and scary.

Speaking to IGN, “Arrow” executive producer Marc Guggenheim has hinted at real damage at Oliver Queen’s city this time around. He acknowledged that Star City has been under threat thrice in as many “Arrow” season finales, so this time they are changing things up by nuking the city, which implies Rubicon control.
