‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Deathstroke is coming back as someone else

Slade Wilson/Deathstroke is coming back this season. He might not return on “Arrow's” season 6 as a villain though.

Stephen Amell (Green Arrow/Oliver Queen) has confirmed the return of Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. He first teased the villain’s return in a social media post last month.

The actor shared a photo of Slade Wilson’s mask with an arrow through his eye. This sparked speculations that the villain would likely to appear before “Arrow” season 5 ends.

Deathstroke is presently locked up at ARGUS island prison Lian Yu. Slade Wilson was the Green Arrow’s friend in season 1 but they had a falling out in season 2 and became enemies since then.

However, Oliver’s foe could be his ally this season. “Desperate times call for desperate measures. Welcome back @manubennett,” the actor wrote on Twitter along with a photo of Deathstroke two-toned helmet. Team Arrow is currently battling Adrian Chase/Prometheus (Josh Segarra) and the Vigilante.

Shortly after, executive producer Marc Guggenheim also tweeted an image of the finale script, revealing the title of the final episode and specifically tagging Bennett in the post. This confirmed that Deathstroke will appear on the season 5 finale. As the title suggests, the conclusion of the fifth season of the CW superhero series will be centred on Lian Yu.

Gugganheim also followed this tweet with another and teases that Bennett's return is not the only announcement they have for “Arrow” season 5 finale. It is still unclear what would be the other announcement. Last month, Katie Cassidy had been revealed to come back as a series regular but not as Black Canary. Instead, she will be playing Laurel Lance's Earth-2 doppelgänger, Black Siren.

"Arrow" official Twitter accounts have also confirmed Bennett return in the show. The CW series is presently on a brief hiatus. Team Arrow is set to return with an episode that is centred on the manhunt on Chase.

Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) asked for Helix help in the previous episode. They were able to find footage of Chase taking off his Prometheus mask. Felicity and Curtis (Echo Kellum) then managed to decode Chase's device and revealed to the police that Chase is Prometheus.

In the upcoming episode titled “Dangerous Liaisons," Team Arrow, ARGUS and the Star City Police District will join forces to hunt Chase. Helix tells Felicity they have a way to find Prometheus but she needs to do something illegal for them in return.

“Arrow” season 5 episode 19 airs on April 26 at 8:00 p.m. in The CW. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
