‘Arrow’ star John Barrowman becomes series regular on ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ ‘The Flash’
John Barrowman has just become a series regular on not one, but all of superhero shows on the US channel The CW. The former “Doctor Who” actor will maintain regular cast status on “Arrow,” as well as become a regular cast on all of the superhero shows executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, such as “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
TVLine reports that the Scottish-American actor, who plays Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer on “Arrow,” will be appearing in all the aforementioned shows as a regular cast. There’s no word if he will also be in “Supergirl,” which is moving from CBS to The CW.
Barrowman started as one of the show’s main villain in season 1. He was promoted to series regular in season 3. He also appeared in an episode of “The Flash” in season 4.
Barrowman’s all-encompassing contract isn’t the first of its kind, the network also pulled the same stunt with Wentworth Miller. The former and returning “Prison Break” star also locked in a ground-breaking deal to become a series regular on all of Berlanti’s shows.
Miller is currently working on “Prison Break,” but he will still have a “very active role” on “Legends” next season, Berlanti had said. As to how would that pan out now that (spoiler alert!) his character Leonard Snart/Captain Cold is dead, it wasn’t revealed. However, since the show is all about time travel, it’s not difficult to conceive how.
“Arrow” returns for its fifth season in October. It has recently begun production, with the first episode titled “Legacy.” Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will be joined by new set of heroes, including Wild Dog (Rick Gonzales), Vigilante (Josh Segarra) and Artemis (Madison McLaughlin).
