Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlkade-Chamberlain emphasised how important it was for teammate Yaya Sanogo to net his first competitive goal of the season.

The 21-year-old striker, who moved from Auxerre in 2013, was in-form during preseason, even scoring four goals against Besiktas, but has unfortunately found it hard to sustain it in the ongoing campaign.

"It's important he got that goal, it's been a long time coming," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal.com.

""In pre-season he showed us what he could do, and he took [the chance] tonight. It was a good start for him, a goal always helps your confidence and I thought he played really well."

"He held the ball up well and hopefully he can score a few more like that."

Meanwhile, the England international was just relieved to get things back on track, following three straight winless games in all competitions.

"Wins always relieve pressure," he added.

"When we win everyone's happy. The players, the manager, the staff and the fans are happy.

"There's a long way to go in this competition and the league. We need to try to back this win up with some good results in the future."
