Arsenal FC Transfer News: Dortmund Boss Met Gunners Agents for Emirates Takeover
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has held a meeting with agents of Premier League giants Arsenal for a possible takeover of the north London squad.
According to Caught Offside, current Gunners mentor Arsene Wenger's willful refusal to sign an extension in the past few months signifies that it is time for both parties to move on to a new chapter of their respective existence.
The Frenchman led Arsenal to English top-flight glory thrice since coming on as a manager in 1996, but has failed to deliver another after the 2003/04 season.
A great start to this year's campaign has kept supporters hopeful; however, strings of injuries coming from key players like Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, and Jack Wilshere affected their performance in the late stretch of the ongoing season.
Most notable in their recent nine games in the Premiership are, among others, the 1-0 loss to Stoke City and the 2-2 draw against Swansea, while receiving a shellacking from top sides like Liverpool (5-1), Chelsea (6-0), and Everton (3-0).
Meanwhile, Klopp is fed up with the acts of bullying by the economically-stronger Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, raiding on his squad's superstars to impose domestic dominance.
It can be recalled that Mario Gotze's departure was announced before last year's Champions League finals, which had apparently affected the team's morale, while striker Robert Lewandowski is bound for the Allianz Arena on a free-transfer this summer.
