Arsenal scouts will be sent out on Sunday to watch Southampton holding midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as his club take on Manchester United.

The Daily Mail suggests that the Gunners are preparing a £15million to capture the the former French Under-21 member as he has proven that he belongs in the Premier League, starting 30 of his 32 appearances for the Saints.

He is versatile enough to also operate as a central playmaker, but his specialisation lies on the defensive end, averaging 3.5 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per game.

With Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini failing to live up to expectations this season, the 24-year-old is expected to take over the chores of the aforesaid players and feature as a regular starter.

Schneiderlin is tied with his current side until 2017, but the chance to play in the Champions League might prove too good to pass up.
