English club Arsenal needs to dole out £1.7million to convince Real Madrid to lend their striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

Aside from monitoring the situation involving the 21-year-old closely, the Premier League leaders have kept their communication lines open with the La Liga giants to signify their continuing intention to acquire Spain under-21 starlet on loan.

The Los Blancos have announced earlier that that Morata will stay at the Bernabeu until the 2013/14 season ends, but a sense of renewed hope struck the Gunners after the condition concerning a monetary consideration was announced.

Meanwhile, Jackson Martinez, Mario Mandzukic, Diego Costa, Wayne Rooney, and Edin Dzeko are some of the names that the north London club are looking at for a permanent transfer, but moves involving the aforesaid names remain hazy due to inactive release clauses.

Unsettled Fulham attacker Dimitar Berbatov is also rumoured to be in the mix of things, however, his mother club might only let go of him on sale as a loan deal may seem to be impractical.
