Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela does not want to move back to Arsenal, according to club President Jokin Apperibay.

The Mexican international enjoyed a fantastic run with La Real in the 2013/14 season, from an individual's perspective, netting 21 goals and contributing 14 assists, but failing to lead them back to the Champions League as the club only managed to finish at the seventh position.

"We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that's an important factor for Real Sociedad," Apperibay told Sky Sports.

However, Apperibay's actions are perceived to be a desperate move to hold on to their prized asset, as reason dictates that he should grab the opportunity to head to London and play at the pinnacle of club football.
