Arum: Mayweather’s May 2 Date Is Contrary To The Date Being Discussed By Both Camps
The never-ending negotiations about the super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquaio just doesn't seem to want to stop. Mayweather recently called out Pacquiao and challenged him for a fight on May 2, but the Filipino boxing icon's promoter Bob Arum reportedly doubts the sincerity of the undefeated American fighter's desire to fight Pacquiao.
In an interview with Philippine news outlet GMA News TV's "News To Go" on Dec. 16, Arum said that he doesn't believe that Mayweather really wants to fight Pacquiao. According to the veteran promoter who just celebrated his 83rd birthday on Dec. 8, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has long been laid on the table and that Mayweather will try to comment on what is currently being talked about. Arum said that Mayweather is attempting to efface the negotiations.
Arum added that the declared date of May 2 is not really what is being negotiated by both camps. What Mayweather said was the exact antithesis of everything that both camps have been dealing with. However, Arum revealed that their negotiation will be finalised, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will go down in the first half of 2015.

"What they have been saying is odd on what we have been discussing," Arum said. "It's almost like, a guy sleeping all the time while his people are discussing the fight on our side."
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has not change his heart regarding his desire to face Mayweather in the ring. Since the Filipno's win against Chris Algieri in Macau, he has been challenging Mayweather a fight.
On Dec. 16, Pacquiao took to Twitter to further taunt the Grand Rapids native boxer for a fight. Pacquiao said that the fans have been waiting long enough to see the fight happen.
.@FloydMayweather, don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough.

The super fight between two of the greatest fighter in the history of boxing have been talked about as far back as 2009. However, the fight has never come to fruition because both camps were unable to find a middle ground.
