It looks like there will be a change in the line-up of the Black Eyed Peas.

Earlier this week, the Black Eyed Peas announced that they will be taking a break out of respect for Fergie, who wants to try to start a family with her husband actor Josh Duhamel, but the latest rumor is that may not be the case anymore.

According to Media Take Out, Ashanti who has been on tour with the Black Eyed Peas will replace Fergie once she leaves for her break. Fergie's indefinite leave of absence may signal a need for change in their musical aesthetic.

A relatively successful and recognizable R&B singer in her own right, her fame has not reached the level yet where it will negatively impact the Black Eyed Peas. Ashanti was reportedly brought onto the group's world tour as an audition to see if she could work well with the band.

Ashanti has been touring with the Black Eyed Peas for the past month and according to insiders, she has fit in perfectly with the group.

There is no certainty that Fergie's hiatus would signal the end of her reign with the Black Eyed Peas since she may very well return even a year from now. But if she really wants to start a family, it may take years and the Black Eyed Peas does not have that much time to wait.

Each has shown that they can start a successful solo career. "The group has been looking for a replacement for some time," revealed a top music industry executive. There will reportedly be an official announcement sometime this month.

"We have to respect Fergie. Fergie is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family and we're happy for her," Black Eyed Peas member Taboo told the New York Times.
