Is Charlie Sheen coming back for the “Two and a Half Men” finale? Ashton Kutcher has maybe hinted that the show’s recalcitrant and now-former star will be making an appearance in the final episode.

The U.S. sitcom has had its fair share of difficulties in the past, with the worst one was probably co-creator Chuck Lorre’s clash with Sheen, the show’s de factor main star. Sheen’s derogatory public comments about Lorre prompted Warner Bros to ban Sheen from the studio premises. He was dismissed in March 2011, and his character Charlie Harper was killed in the ninth season premiere.

Sheen, who was earning US$1.8 million per episode, the highest rate on television for actors, before he was fired, was then replaced by Kutcher. Although the 49-year-old actor has since apologised for his comments against Lorre, as well as for his off-hand remarks about co-star Jon Cryer, has expressed his desire in September to make a guest appearance at the last episode of the ratings-hit sitcom.

At that time, the producers have denied that Sheen’s claims that they have reached out to him to discuss his possible return. However, it appears that Sheen is indeed coming back to the show, if Kutcher’s reaction to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres’ question is any indication.

On Friday, the new dad appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to talk about his new role as parents with Mila Kunis, as well as the show’s impending conclusion on Feb 19, 2015. He revealed that he has just received a pitch about what the story will be for the finale, saying he’s probably not allowed to talk about it.

“Is Charlie coming back?” DeGeneres asked candidly, to which Kutcher suddenly found himself unable to reply honestly. He appeared to want to say something, but he was careful not to since he wasn’t allowed to reveal secrets.

“Here’s the thing, if you’re working on the Warner Bros’ lot, if there’s sirens (sic), come save me,” Kutcher joked, perhaps hoping DeGeneres would drop the topic. Unfortunately, she didn’t. “So Charlie comes back?” the host insisted.

“I didn’t say that! Did I say that? I didn’t say that,” Kutcher maintained, unable to hold back his smile. DeGeneres took his behaviour as confirming her question.

“I’m predicting Charlie comes back,” she said. “If you smell something, I wasn’t smoking it,” he said.

Also during the show, DeGeneres gave Kutcher a paparazzi-proof baby carrier so he and Kunis can better shield baby Wyatt Isabelle, who was born on September 30, from the photographers.
